Graduate students
I am not currently looking for students. But if motivated, experienced prospective students can pitch interesting ideas and secure their own funding (e.g. through NSF pre-doc fellowships), I'm all ears!
Post-docs
I am currently advertising for a postdoc in community ecology. As always, I would also love to collaborate with postdocs who were able to secure external funding. There are several great external opportunities such as the David H. Smith Fellowship and the Liber Ero Fellowship. Please get in touch if you are interested in applying to work with me through one of these (or other) fellowships.
About the program
The University of Montana (UM) is a nationally ranked R1 research university set amidst the wilderness and wildlife of the Northern Rocky Mountains. Both the Ecology & Evolution Program (within the Division of Biological Sciences) and the Wildlife Biology Program have been recognized as Programs of National Distinction. The Wildlife Biology Program was ranked the Number 1 wildlife program in North America by Academic Analytics. UM was recently ranked Number 1 in the field of Ecology out of 300 North American research universities when normalized for faculty size. UM has an extremely collegial and collaborative research atmosphere. Students at UM are also exposed to collaborations with numerous federal and state resource agencies, NGOs, and other researchers across the region and around the world.
Undergrads
I sometimes have room in my lab for dedicated, self-directed, and enthusiastic students for volunteer positions or honors projects. Please get in touch if you are interested, but only if you are very serious about putting in some real time and effort to a project that we could work out together.
